You can make an argument he was right on #1 but not for the reason he thinks. If the Soviet Union was still around there would be far less promotion of communism in the Anerican education system and far fewer Americans in favor of it.

That is to say, we brought it on ourselves by insisting in 1947 that we become a National Security State dedicated to military aggress for a profit. We could have avoided, or at least significantly limit, a cold war with Russia, but keeping our defense industry not just strong but as a viable investment for Wall Street big banks is a priority of the U.S.
