I was amazed to read how far you've gotten in life at the age of 54. Not trying to ingratiate myself to you, but I believe it took me to 64 to learn quite a few of your 54. However, I was pleased to see items 10 and 11 show up at just the right point. Those two can smooth the way for the other things one tries to learn in a lifetime. Good job, John. You'll find the right path for the next few years. Carry on.

I am a "lead a horse to water, but don't (and I won't) force it to drink," so some of my opinions come off, perhaps, as "drive-by." But maybe you should consider focusing on finding a wife? Yes, at your age you will each have to settle for a "used person," but there is much joy in sharing your life with a companion. You are a very smart guy, over-flowing with decency and common sense, so you ought to trust yourself to find the right one. A human companion will likely be more helpful and last longer than a great dog, this I know by true, sad, yet hope-filled experience. God will bless you in whatever decision you make, John.
