Fish tank, rats, that's what I thought. It seems to be a chronic issue for humanity, esp when respect for tradition is devalued, attacked or just sneered at. At my (former) church it was the same thing, I was lectured to by a "contemporary" pastor who told me that the problems with our country were my fault, because I wasn't reaching out to bridge the gap with the new ways of thinking, and that I needed to forget those "judgements" from the past and seek compromise in order to make the new people in our community like us more. Turns out it was actually my racism/white supremacy, sexism and homophobia that were problems that I had to acknowledge and repent from. Yeah, dumping the wisdom from the Bible is working great for the Christian church, isn't it? We had Catholic priests and nuns all around when I was young, now the seminaries have been redeveloped into senior housing and there's one priest who rotates from church to church every other week...
