BASED: “Facts do not care about your feelings.”
UNBASED: “My feelings don’t care about facts.”
When objective truth was abandoned in education, the gates to Hell were opened. Sadly, the BASED will pay the toll for the UNBASED’s abject refusal to acknowledge their error.
“One of the things I’ve always found interesting about Democrats is that they simultaneously promote government as the solution to every problem, but they also seem completely indifferent to whether their policies work or not.”
But this is not the least bit surprising.
The main reason that Dems promote government as the solution to every problem is that such promotion helps them attain, and retain, political power.
Other than the tendencies of all politicians away from epistemic humility, and of left-of-center politicians to be comfortable with / approving of authoritarianism, it really ain’t any more complicated than that.
I could point out cynically that when the policies don’t work out, it becomes justification for another cycle of ‘government solutions’, and I’d be correct, but this is just a secondary, side-benefit of the Dem approach.
Having grown up in a city owned by the Democrats for a hundred years, Philadelphia, I long ago arrived at an understanding as to why nothing works in places like Philly, with the exception of the Democrat political machine.
Democrats are very good at getting elected and maintaining power, often by engaging in election fraud through a variety of creative tactics. One of our family jokes is that our father, Charlie O, voted Republican every election until he passed and has been voting Democrat ever since. In Philly that’s likely to be true.
The second part of the Democrat strategy is that they literally don’t care if any of the government services they are theoretically responsible for actually work. Your street gets cleared of snow if you happen to have an important Democrat living there. We happened to have a Republican Committeeman living on our block so snow clearance was called “Spring.”
There’s money to be made and favors to be done if you’re a Democrat politician. Just don’t expect anything to actually work. CDE
