This is exactly the kind of dude I grew up disliking because of them being so self-centered. Being sort of a nerd myself, I would never have been part of his boys/crew/posse whatever slang you'd use, because you can tell they just use people as bit characters in the drama that is their life. Worse than useless, in fact just users of one thing or person. I could see the abberrant, amoral beast inside of them, fairly quickly, and I pitied those who could not, esp. the girls who were used and casually discarded. The worst sort of degenerate; I wouldn't piss on that creep if he was on fire.
Pretty boys, and conventionally handsome men, you know - the heartthrob type - have never appealed to me, unless they had a lot more going on under the hood than their looks. I’ve always been a sucker for the guys who could make me laugh, a bit self-effacing but confident, well-groomed with looks closer to interesting and distinct, and good character evidenced in speech and behavior.
Were I in the dating market today, a looks maxed guy would receive wide birth from me.
Every new generation gets slammed by the older generations as being disgusting. However, having lived long enough that I have covered several generations of this, our current youth is a very special level of disgusting... and frankly a threat to civilization because they can also vote.
Aristotle said that beautiful souls were incarnated in beautiful bodies. The Greeks believed, "Beautiful - therefore good." The Christian Church, on the other hand, believed, "Good - therefore beautiful."
As I have gone further in life, I have come to have more respect for Aristotle's and the Greeks' ideas on the subject than I had in youth.
Ugly people - especially women - harbor feelings of anger and resentment toward more attractive people.
This encourages them to become leftists because leftism is driven by jealousy, envy and resentment.
When I was in college, my friends and I were struck by the physical ugliness of the kids in the New Left. We even had a saying which we would say to each other when we walked past some SDS activist: "He's ugly enough to be a Communist" or "She's ugly enough to be a Communist."
I see many ugly, unattractive people among the anti-ICE demonstrators today.
However, I am skeptical of people who pour money into anti-aging spas, face lifts, testosterone injections and so forth. Beauty should be natural, part of one's genetic inheritance. It should not be contrived or purchased.

I believe that it is quite declasse to blame your parents when you're over 21. I don't like the Oprah Winfrey program scenario in which people condemn and run down their parents to a public audience.
Like most teenagers I was straining at the leash and often got angry with my parents. It's part of nature's plan. Childhood is passing and the young fellow wants to get out and start his own life and family.
Despite my occasional surges of anger at my parents' restrictions and their vetoes of things I wanted to do, I am glad that I always remembered that no one else had changed my diapers for 2 years and no one else had prepared me 3 meals a day.
I confined expression of my anger at my parents to going to my room and grinding my teeth.
I did not talk about my parents behind their backs.
I never said to them the things my friends nowadays say their kids say to them such as, "I hate you. I wish you were dead."
I was absolutely astonished the first time someone told me his son had said that to him. I was frightened and fearful that my friend was going to go on to say, "So I picked up the poker by the fireplace and beat his brains out. Can you help me hide the body?"

I'm all about self-improvement and think it's totally valid for people to put a lot of effort into improving their looks. However, I think when it gets to the point where it becomes the center of someone's existence, it turns from a virtue into something extremely unhealthy for people and society.
