Tearing Down a Rigged System: It's So Good to See the Liberal Version of "Normal" Starting to Die
Imagine if you were playing baseball and it was "Three strikes and you're out!" for your team, while the other side got 10 misses before they struck out. What about if you were playing football and your team got to start every drive on your own twenty-yard line while the other side ALSO began every drive on your twenty-yard line? What about if you played a game of Monopoly and every time you passed "Go," you got $200 while the other side got $500? None of it sounds very fair, right? But know what would make it worse? If you were forced to spend your money on a broken system that was specifically designed to put people like you at a disadvantage.
Yet, this is much of what has been going on in America. After a long march through our institutions, liberals have gutted everything they’ve sunk their teeth into and turned it, first and foremost, into a way to promote liberalism.
A “liberal church” is a way to promote liberalism, and the church part is secondary. A liberal corporation is a way to promote liberalism and if the corporation makes less money because of it, they don’t care. A liberal Hollywood movie studio is a way to push liberal ideas that also would like to make some money on movies, but if it has to choose, it will push out flop after flop that promotes liberalism.
In the private sector, this attitude is repulsive and bad for society, but it’s a free country, right? If that’s what people choose to do with their money and time, fine. It’s not admirable, it’s not good, but FINE.
However, it becomes something else entirely when the government becomes part of the liberal ecosystem because it’s OUR MONEY, too. Yes, it’s true that a taxpayer isn’t always going to like what the government does. I agreed with almost nothing Biden did during his whole presidency and even though I voted for Trump and think he’s doing a terrific job, I could absolutely nitpick and point out several things he’s done that I disagree with. That’s the nature of the beast. You are never going to get a government that perfectly represents what you want it to do.
On the other hand, it’s also very reasonable to say, “The government shouldn’t use my tax dollars to stack the deck against people like me while making it easier for the Left to take and hold power.” That’s not the role our government is supposed to play in society, but it has become so normalized over the last few decades that it has become like the water all of us have gotten used to swimming in. We don’t even notice it. That’s just how it is… or at least, that’s just how it was until Donald Trump got into office and started draining that fetid swamp.
That was something that immediately came to mind when I saw this tweet earlier this week:
Let’s talk about the specific examples he gives there.
* “Courts stacked with loyalists:” Sure, we could just note that every president appoints judges, but the philosophy of those judges isn’t talked about enough.
Conservatives believe in originalism. In other words, conservatives believe that judges are supposed to try to stick to the original meaning of the Constitution.
On the other hand, liberals believe in a “Living Constitution,” which inevitably ends up being nothing more than just pushing liberalism.
In other words, you could take any guest of The View and the greatest liberal legal minds of a generation (ha, ha), make them judges and know what you’d find? They’d vote the exact same way on almost every single thing, but the liberal justices would dress it up with legal verbiage. It’s not supposed to work like that and the fact that it does distorts the meaning of the Constitution, undermines justice, and perverts our whole legal system.
* “Education censored and rewritten:” There’s not even a serious argument anymore about whether universities have become dominated by the far-left wing, but there should be an argument about why conservative tax dollars are going to public universities that deliberately undermine our values.
Similarly, Harvard is essentially publicly arguing that they are ENTITLED to billions in tax dollars even as they push ultra-left-wing ideas and openly break the law by racially discriminating against white and Asian students. That should have NEVER happened in the first place, and it should have NEVER been allowed after it did. The second universities start openly pushing their political beliefs on students, our tax dollars should no longer be involved in the process.
* “Journalists discredited:” Our mainstream media has become little more than an arm of the Democratic Party. So, for the most part, they have discredited themselves.
You can’t maintain your credibility when almost everything you write may as well have been written by the Democratic National Committee. That being said, it is nice to see the Trump administration TREATING the media like what it is.
PBS shouldn’t be funded by the government any more than the Daily Wire should. Furthermore, liberal organizations like the AP don’t have some God-given right to get special access to the White House. For far too long, we’ve had an overwhelmingly liberal press pool. Giving more access to conservative sources and influencers isn’t giving them special treatment, it’s balancing things out for the first time ever.
* “Protesters punished” and “Dissent surveilled:” The Left has a habit of very intentionally blurring the line between violence, lawbreaking, and protesting.
Setting Teslas on fire or isn’t “protesting.” Murdering insurance executives in the streets of New York isn’t “dissent.” Allowing anti-Semitic leftists to scream at, threaten, and sometimes violently attack Jewish students because they’re not popular on the Left these days is unacceptable. So are foreign students coming to our country and starting trouble. They can start as much trouble as they want in their own countries, but not here.
Similarly, the whole idea that illegals can be waived into America by the millions with minimal paperwork, but we’re not legally allowed to get rid of them isn’t going to fly. Neither is the idea that every government program and employee is so essential that we can’t get rid of them. We literally have had a situation where useless liberal bureaucrats have been sending billions in tax dollars to liberal NGOs that push liberal agendas and act as a de facto cushy jobs program for the Left.
If the Left wants to fund gay puppet shows in Zimbabwe or studies on the best way to make monkeys trans and funnel out outrageous salaries to everyone involved, they can go right ahead, but not with our tax dollars. The purpose of our military is to win wars, not to pay for the surgeries of trans weirdos who can’t even fight. DEI programs that helped unqualified black and female liberals get jobs by discriminating against more qualified white and Asian Americans are unacceptable. If you can’t earn it, you don’t deserve it just because you’re liberal.
“This is fascism!”
No, it’s a long-overdue correction.
It’s evening out the playing field, tearing down a rigged system, and resetting the board.
Made me sick to read this. The left has destroyed the democrat party and the republicans have allowed them to do it. I can't think of anything they support or believe that isn't evil, or leads to an evil outcome. If there is anything, I wish someone would tell me what it is.
I was raised in a left wing family in a left wing city and went to a left wing university. The level of indoctrination was intense and unrelieved. As I grew up and escaped the system, I was by stages surprised, disillusioned, unsettled, disbelieving, then incredulous, horrified and angry. The shitake I was forced to accept was all imposed by people who were claiming the right to control my thoughts while telling me it was the only way for me to accept and expiate my guilt for being straight, white, Christian and patriotic. Now I struggle with my Christian obligation to love my enemies and be at peace with my neighbors, when I know damned well they would love nothing better than to stab me in the back, take what I worked hard for, and to strip me of my franchise. I want to have words with the Father about this- is this a test of my faith, or at least of my humility and self control? I'll admit, I have asked God to let me be there at the judgement, and watch justice be done. Will I (please!) be allowed at least one swing of the "Holy ballbat?" Thanks for writing this powerful (and aggravating!) column, John
