All good ideas. I’ve considered a generator for the entire house but there are issues. A portable generator is probably a good idea. I’ve got the gun issue covered.
I have seriously considered the whole house generator. But, it is not cheap and realistically, you may go a year or three at a time before you need it. Same thing with hurricane shutters, which are extremely useful if you need them and you get the nice ones, but is it worth it? Very debatable.
