I would add one more condition. No piggy-backing family members beyond children and parents. The people we want here probably wouldn’t make that a problem, but the ones we don’t want here use their foot in the door to drag over as many cousins (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc, uncles, aunts, and whoever they can sneak by, amounting to a family line that extends to 100’s. No.

"Family based immigration" is obviously a horrible idea. As you say, once you get beyond the immediate family, there's just no advantage to it and you get enormous amounts of dead weight and welfare recipients. You're a rocket scientist? Ok. Great. Why would I want your 83 year old grandpa and cousin who sweeps floors instead of two more rocket scientists?

That just makes so much sense. Well said.

The most important thing that a nation must decide is this:

Who is qualified to be a citizen?

I was relieved to see that Hawkins included as a criterion that the immigrant must not change the demographics of the county.

The sad fact is that the opinions of people like Hawkins have been drowned out by the sloganeering of the open borders element.

Emma Lazarus, the immigrant woman who wrote the "poem" that is inscribed on the base of the Statue of Liberty, has a different view from that of Hawkins and she is in the mainstream of contemporary American thought.

She hit the nail on the head. She set out in plain English exactly what she wanted in America:

"....the wretched refuse of your teeming shore...."

And that's what we've got nowadays - the wretched refuse of other nations.

They are welcome.

But not an intelligent hard working White guy.

He's not wanted.

P.S. I can't stop without touching on a slightly different item on the issue of immigration.

The mantra repeated incessantly:

"We are a nation of immigrants."

No! We are NOT a nation of immigrants.

We are a nation of native born and some immigrants.

An immigrant is NOT a descendant of immigrants. An immigrant is someone who was born in a foreign country and then came here.

In my own case I have only 1 set of ancestors who came here after the Revolution. They came here in 1848 from Germany.

All of my other ancestors came here before the Revolution. Many of them (Puritans) came to Massachusetts in the 1620s. Others (French Huguenots) came to South Carolina in the 1680s and 1690s.

My ancestors have been ln America for 10 generations. Except for the 2 Germans, I have to go back to the 1620s or 1680s to find ancestors who were immigrants.

Everyone should keep an ear out for this lie that "we are a nation of immigrants", should recognize it for the sappy propaganda that it is and slap it down at once.

Good essay, John. The fact that ANY of the seven criteria you've laid out would be considered controversial is a sad reflection on the dumb and perverted mindset of the person who feelz that. You and I want to build up America, not tear it down. This is the most basic divide in our country, and why the Left-wing mindset is a virus- or cancer- that is metastasizing and destroying it. I'd like to see a bunch of deportations of the garbage that Biden and the Demoncats willingly brought in here; as we can see over the fake drama over ICE it's all just politics, and frankly, hatred of America, by those fools.
