I think first of all, it helps to define the word "science." I think a good working definition (subject, of course, to refinement) would be the following:
"The exercise of a method of repetitive experimentation whereby practitioners seek to discover and verify natural cause-and-effect relationships."
Anything anyone would like to add to that? I'm not attempting to contradict anything John said here, but you can't really define something by explaining what it's not.
