Topic suggestion: The overwhelming number of unqualified, poorly qualified and morally deficient candidates now being submitted by both parties in, in my opinion, an insult to the heritage of those who founded our country and made it once great. (football players, quack doctors, fake journalists, rich famous celebrities, etc.)

Along those lines-I would love to hear you delve into the issue of how we have turned politicians into celebrities who seek sound bites above policy.

You said to mention things that no one wants to talk about, so here's one. Write a column about how the left, esp. white college educated women, infantilize "people of color" by asserting that it's somehow racist to hold everyone to the same standards of performance such that we need to continue in perpetuity "affirmative action." Maybe a related essay on the infamous Smithsonian exhibit that lists all the traits of "whiteness," and again, how somehow it's racist to insist on excellence, completing task completely and on time, etc. How exactly does a country do well without insisting on such things, anyways?

That's a great idea for a column.

I'm interested in Jim Wesberry's topic, too, but I need a persuasive argument to make when a woman who believes that Roe being turned over to the states means that victims of incest, rape, harmful effects of birth control, and birth control failure will mean they can't get an abortion in red states, so it isn't fair for them to travel to another state because of cost and availability of transportation, or be forced to carry a child to term. Most, maybe all, states allow exceptions for abortion in the case of pregnancy ending the mother's life or permanent damage to her health, incest, and rape if the latter two are reported to the police.

Regardless, most abortions in this country are not performed for the foregoing reasons - they are performed because of irresponsibility of the woman, who can't be troubled to take advantage of reliable birth control, use it correctly, or exercise self-control, or are forced by boyfriends, parents or husbands into having an abortion. If women do not have easy access to abortion, some of them will seek any means available, even if illegal. Unfortunately, whether legal or illegal, abortion will be the answer to end a life for some women.

"How do you solve a problem like The Donald?"

With his continued egotistical rants, he's not only ruined his chances for a comeback but he's dragging other viable Republicans down with him. The recent election results show that he's no longer an asset to those who hold the values which he now unfortunately hides too deeply under his emotional rantings.

What do those of us who loved Trump's policies and results in office, do, to have any chance of getting someone (perhaps DeSantis) elected, who would carry on the MAGA progress of Donald without the egotistic immaturity of Donald?

Although I think this whole thing is probably drawing to a close one way or another, some things just have to play themselves out and unfortunately, because of the damage it has already done and will continue to do, that's one of them. My opinion is that if Trump and DeSantis run, DeSantis has a great chance to beat him in the primary. If Trump does somehow become the nominee, I expect Democrats to control the House, Senate, and Presidency in 2024.

I know a lot of people still love the guy and I understand why, but ultimately, it's not enough to get him elected. He will maximize Democrat turnout, bleed more Republican voters than anyone else and lose Independents bigly.

If I were advising him (I wouldn't take the job, he wouldn't hire me and he wouldn't listen to me or pretty much anyone else if he did), I'd tell him to stay out of the primary, endorse DeSantis, and keep enjoying rallies in deep red states rather than keep pushing forward until he creates a disaster, but Trump is Trump. We'll see...

Yes. I would certainly vote for him again in the general election should he by some miracle win the primary, but only if he were running against a RINO equivalent to Juan McCain or Mitt Romney would Trump EVER again get my vote in a primary.

I’d like to see something written about honor and duty. Everyone seems to have their hands out expecting something instead of looking for ways to make our communities better by serving others. I don’t believe our nation will be better until our people are more moral and relearn what honor and duty is again.

I like that as a column idea, too.

Topic suggestion: How to eliminate the Federal Reserve.

That might be good, but I doubt it would go in the direction people are expecting. I should definitely do that one.

Keep up the great work, it’s such a pleasure reading your column written with a large pair.

The biggest reason we almost did well was abortion. The women were the driving force.

What a joke, Fettermen is.

I would like you to explore the takeover of what would have considered to conservative-inclined organizations such as industrial corporates and the military. Why did it happen? What can be done to reserve this trend?

Expand full comment

That's an old thing. You can go all the way back to Robert Conquest’s Three Laws of politics. #2 is...

"Any organization not explicitly and constitutionally right-wing will sooner or later become left-wing."

It happens because liberalism is a God replacement for diehard liberals and so, it doesn't matter if it's teaching, going to a funeral or serving in the military, they're always looking for ways to add more converts to their religion. Nobody has to even tell them to do this, it's just their nature.

As to stopping it, that comes from applying pressure on the organization. Whether you're talking about the military or businesses, they don't want to money and support. If companies believe "Go woke, go broke" is a real thing, they'll stop. If the next Republican President fires the officers responsible for politicizing the military, which is exactly what he should do, they'll get the message. In the interim, if they have the courage (which is always doubtful), Republicans in the House can send a message via the budget to the military. Cut the funds for any woke training and maybe a little more to let them know it's not acceptable.

Picking up on some recent Daniel Horowitz articles I would suggest an article fleshing out a Red State Constitutional Movement to begin distancing themselves from a bloated and corrupt federal government.

It sounds interesting, but I haven't heard anything about that. Do you have a link to an article? I'd love to read it.

Thanks John, being Sagittarius my mouth is in gear before my brain. We speak the truth from the start, either take it or find the door.

We don’t resort to name calling or sarcastic words just speaking from the heart not the rear end.

It seems like an appropriate time to re-run the Elon Musk quotes column. Some people may have missed it. Why do you think some people no longer support free speech and what do you suggest an individual can do to support free speech?

I was wrong about aborting. Most of the governors running won on their merits. Florida governor did very well.

Here’s a great suggestion. Why not talk about DJT, corruption, Republican denialism, 42,000 independently documented lies from the 1917-21 White House, etc. Just for starters.
