Liberals are the Ideology of the Seven Deadly Sins
There are arguments about exactly where the Seven Deadly Sins came from, but they seem to have consolidated into their current form during the reign of Pope Gregory 1 in the sixth century.
The Seven Deadly Sins are particularly interesting, not just because they became the basis of a surprisingly good anime series that a former girlfriend got me into…
…but because they go against so much of the current thinking in the world that could be boiled down to, “As long as you aren’t hurting another person, it’s not sin.”
The Seven Deadly Sins cut against that concept. All of us have engaged in the Seven Deadly Sins at one time or another, and on the surface, they may appear harmless, but the more you engage in them, the more they rot away at your character and the type of person you are.
Could you be consumed by one or more of the Seven Deadly Sins and still be a good person? Theoretically, probably yes. As a practical matter, it doesn’t tend to work that way. The more you engage in the Seven Deadly Sins, the more it corrupts you until you engage in other sins. That was the idea, at least, and it actually seems to happen that way.
That’s why it’s so significant that liberalism has openly embraced all of these sins. You cannot be a liberal in good standing unless you endorse most, if not all, of the Seven Deadly Sins.
Let me show you what I mean:
1) Pride: What could be more prideful than wanting to control the lives of your fellow citizens from Washington, DC? What else would you call people who genuinely believe they can better decide than you whether you should have a gun, what you do with your own money, and even what type of light bulbs you’re allowed to use in your home?
2) Greed: What could be greedier than demanding an ever-larger share of the money you earn, so it can be doled out from Washington, DC, in return for votes? Especially when there’s no gratitude for the money that’s confiscated, only the constant refrain that people who are getting almost nothing in return for their money don’t want to pay, “their fair share.”
3) Lust: What is showing gay pornography to school kids and putting children in rooms with sexually charged drag shows other than completely out-of-control lust? There’s a reason liberal Democrats are constantly accused of “grooming kids” – it’s because they’re grooming kids.
4) Envy: There are fewer than 1,000 billionaires in the United States, but Democrats never stop trying to stoke resentment against them because they have more than other people. They spend no time trying to tell people how to improve their own lives, but endless time trying to convince everyone to tear down the success of others.
5) Gluttony: What else is the whole body positivity movement other than a paean to gluttony? It’s one thing to say, “You’re overweight, but you can work your way back to health,” and another to say, “You’re overweight, and that’s great! You are healthy, and you don’t need to change anything!” Liberals literally encourage and defend eating yourself to death.
6) Wrath: Liberals are the modern embodiment of wrath. They’re constantly outraged, constantly hateful, constantly demonizing their political opponents. After Charlie Kirk was murdered this year, MILLIONS of liberals in the real world and online publicly celebrated it. You have to be an extraordinarily unhappy, angry, vindictive, nasty human being to do something like that, yet a large minority of liberals are exactly that kind of person.
7) Sloth: What could be more slothful than demanding that people be given welfare even if they don’t want to work? We’re not talking about helping someone out who fell on hard times or attempting to get someone who’s trying over the hump. Liberals are 100% fine with using taxpayer money to indefinitely support leeches who are simply too lazy to get jobs.
The Republican Party and the conservative movement in America are both far from perfect, but at least they’re not dedicated to corrupting the souls of everyone affiliated with them the same way that liberals are.

Well done. And these are the people deep into self-deception that their position is one of great virtue, egalitarianism, charity and caring for the downtrodden.
Good essay, John, I appreciate this reminder. I suspect that I might be guilty, at times, of Wrath. Not offensively, I suppose, but in reaction to the latest left-wing outrage. Congressmen encouraging members of the military to doubt then disobey the orders of their officers. Outraged mobs attacking or impeding the lawful, voted for, and necessary deportation of illegal aliens by ICE. I mean, I live in WI, where Demoncats are outraged that Jabba the Hutt judge Dugan was convicted of the obvious crime of obstruction of justice. Ministers and pastors railing on me for being selfish and bigoted because I'm a white man who is sick of being discriminated against by woke companies and my own governor and county executive. Makes me grit my teeth and want to grab a ballbat. I pray that I will get to watch God taking my revenge on these sinful cretins!
