My interest/take on Kanye is from a very different angle. I'm not certain if I have ever listened to his music, but I am well acquainted with mental illness especially bi-polar disorder. It is gut wrenching to witness a loved one going through a manic state. You are helpless to bring any common sense or reason during a cycle. There are many qualified and competent professionals who can help, but you have to be willing to accept the help offered. I fear Kayne is addicted to the manic state (something that is common with bi-polar people) and not so happy staying medicated. The depressive/manic swings is not a cycle that is sustainable. Sadly he is going through a very public meltdown, I pray he gets the help he needs.

This episode highlights the silliness of the celebrity worship in this country. The fact that someone is very good at singing or acting or some sport does not make them an expert on every conceivable subject. But when some 20 year old pop singer talks about politics or social issues or religion, a surprisingly large number of people listen, as if what this person has to say carries any greater wisdom than any random person they might meet on the street.

For all that's been written and said about this episode in West's chaotic life, yours is the most humane, though Andrew Torba's editorial about it was, too, from a Christian standpoint. I feel sorry for Ye, or whatever his name will be next, and I hope his life will be salvaged for the better by either prayer or an excellent treatment center.

I've heard that Kanye is brilliant, etc., but I couldn't say why, because rap music annoys and/or disgusts me. Still, I will not bother to argue over what is a matter of taste with millions of people. But as someone who has seen the groups of people on the Nazi's list of "untermenschen" (sub-humans), I can tell you that black people were definitely on that list, so the fact that "ye" would defend Hitler is both inexplicable and impossible to swallow. The only defense I could even contemplate would have been that the Nazis hated communism so much that they tried to destroy Russia just to stamp it out, but in fact the Russians were always just in the way of "lebensraum," which is why Himmler and Hitler decided to liquidate the population of the Ukraine instead of annexing it and having a safer supply line to Stalingrad, one of the many hate-blinded blunders that cost Germany their 6th Army, the war itself, and Hitler and his henchmen their lives. I've had a friend with manic depression, and it is hard to watch the crash and the destruction of their personal and professional lives that accompany the depressive part of that cycle. I hope Kanye West gets the treatment he needs...

The West case is pretty illustrative of how American culture is controlled by a few institutions and people. For years West has put out rap music with homophobic, anti-woman, kill the police, and hate whitey lyrics without a peep from the record, celebrity and Hollywood mob. Suddenly over night he goes on a rant over a very long dead Hitler, he talks nice about a totally failed political ideology while mumbling long debunked tropes stereotyping jewish people. He gets tagged as a mental case and is cancelled and kicked to the curb within a day or two. So who do you think controls and runs our culture and society. Americans truly don't care for the images generated by rap music but it makes billions for some people Mr. West included. The African American community were not "outraged" about his childish rants about Nazis. It was ignored by most except the elites in the industry who feared for their own careers. West has been a creator of that sewage called rap music and nothing was ever said and he was handsomely rewarded. He goes a bit too far with his latest incoherent babbling and he is kicked to the curb within seconds. So who really has the power in America? Not billionaire rap singers or fashion icons that is for sure.
