Granted, this isn’t normally what we do at Culturcidal and any sort of list like this is going to be more than a little arbitrary by definition because there’s no rational, statistical way to rank the best moments from TV shows and movies. In fact, the only really fair way to do this would be for a large number of scenes to be put up for a vote by the public. So, let’s just say that if everyone were picking their forty favorite scenes, these would be mine.
I ought to craft a list of my own. It would be very different from this one. The cliffhanger at the end of Star Trek: The Next Generation's "Best of Both Worlds" was awesome. So was the final gunfight in Unforgiven. And Tim Allen's character breaking down to the alien in Galaxy Quest, and any part with the crew fighting back.
Conan's "what is best in life" is probably my favorite on your list. Great choice.
