Certainly, our government with leftists in control will take us down. They won't stop trying until they are stamped out. The Trump administration may forestall that outcome, but only if it can withstand the plans that are being cooked up right now by these haters and traitors, as well as cement the next election with a traditional republican win, not some RINO! The election laws must be rolled back to their original format. Why that was left in the hands of the individual states was a mistake. A big one.
Thank you for adding this clarification. If we can elect people who want to shrink the government and return it to a time when fiscal responsibility was a possibility, America can survive. My skepticism is that we can only beat back the left for so long, they will get back in charge, then boom goes the dynamite. Exhibit #1: The party that was screaming, about four months ago, that if Republicans don't vote for a continuing resolution, they will be responsible for a government shutdown. Fast forward to this week when the same folks are saying we will filibuster unless we can continue to waste hundreds of billions of dollars (that we do not have). This is the very embodiment of a nihilistic group of people.
Your point about Rome is exactly right. Remember what Reagan said, “The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.” And he only knew a sliver of what we’ve learned in the past two months.

Scary thoughts, but they needed being said. Your ending paragraph says it all. Thanks, John.
