Why Would it Be Wrong to Try to Assassinate Hitler?
Liberals are going to get a lot of people killed if they keep going this way
Adolph Hitler survived 6 different assassination attempts in his life. He had bullets fired his way and there were several attempted bombings. Although we might fear what would have happened in a “history would be totally different, what if it was even worse” sort of way if Hitler had died, most of us would be happy if he had been assassinated. After all, Hitler was responsible for the Holocaust and led the world into a war that killed more than 50 million people.
If there was a top 100 list of people throughout history who “needed killing,” Hitler would have to be pretty close to the top, along with Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Genghis Khan, and arguably, whoever came up with the idea of putting pineapples on pizza.
That brings us back to the assassination attempt against Donald Trump that happened on Saturday night. Was that attack wrong and should it be condemned? The obvious answer would seem to be “Yes” and certainly, a number of prominent Democrats did condemn it.
For example, here’s President Joe Biden’s comment AFTER the assassination attempt:
That’s not spectacular, but Biden did at least reach the minimum acceptable level of condemnation. However, how does that square with these comments from Biden?
If Trump is a genuine threat to America, a threat to our freedom, democracy, and everything America stands for, then why was it wrong to try to assassinate him?
Is it morally wrong to kill a man who will take away a nation’s freedom in order to create a dictatorship? Incidentally, this was not just one or two comments. It was a running theme:
Of course, this type of rhetoric isn’t the exception on the Left now, it’s the rule. In fact, before they ever called Trump Hitler, they were claiming that mild-mannered, center-right George W. Bush was Hitler:
Of course, the rhetoric directed at Trump has been much more extreme. There is no shortage of examples, but these will do as well as any:
When you direct this kind of rhetoric at a political candidate and then try to pull their Secret Service protection, what are you trying to do? You’re deliberately trying to get them killed. Happily, it didn’t work.
What all this highlights is that there is a game liberals have taken to playing in recent years. They do everything possible to create a situation where violence MAY occur, but if it does occur, then they pretend that wasn’t what they wanted when it happened. Hey, their hands are clean. They’re not responsible.
But, when you encourage liberals to confront Republicans they don’t like in public as Maxine Waters did here, what are you doing? You’re deliberately trying to set up a situation where violence is more likely to occur:
When you protest at someone’s home, there’s an implicit threat of violence that goes along with it (“We know where you live.”):
In Kavanaugh’s case, there was also an assassination plot, so the Left’s tactic also generated the violent reaction they wanted:
A California man armed with a handgun who planned to kill Brett Kavanaugh was charged with attempted murder on Wednesday after being arrested near the U.S. Supreme Court justice's Maryland home, voicing dismay about expected rulings curtailing abortion access and expanding gun rights, authorities said.
The man, identified as 26-year-old Nicholas Roske of the Los Angeles suburb of Simi Valley, was carrying a handgun he had purchased for the purpose of killing Kavanaugh as well as ammunition, a crowbar, pepper spray, and other items, according to an affidavit signed by an FBI agent.
When you turn a blind eye to violent protests and try to convince people that arson, rioting, and looting are “mostly peaceful” because there were also some peaceful protesters there, while legally going after the people who defended themselves from the mob, you’re encouraging and condoning violence that supports your political goals:
When you allow a violent group like Antifa to break the law and engage in public violence for years at a time in your town, you’re clearly trying to send a message that violence in service of the Left is perfectly acceptable:
If you want to say that Republicans in general and Trump in particular have been less than perfect in this area, you are not wrong. However, everything Republicans do in this area has a 10,000-watt spotlight shined on it. In fact, even the most insignificant things they do are treated as wildly dangerous. Remember when Sarah Palin was accused of causing Gabby Giffords to be shot because her PAC listed that as one of the races they were targeting?
In that case, the Left literally tried to blame her for the shooting even though there was no evidence the shooter even saw the map (which, in a sense, is neither here nor there because no normal person would read that map as a call for violence in the first place).
So, if that’s supposed to be the standard, why aren’t the same people now saying Joe Biden is directly responsible for the attempt on Trump’s life after making this comment at a fundraiser less than a week before Trump was shot?
We all know why.
There’s an enormous double standard in America. Everything Republicans say is held to the highest level of scrutiny while liberals are given a free pass no matter how often they encourage violence.
Well, no free passes here.
Liberals all across America have been tacitly encouraging violence against Republicans. They’ve done it, they’ve done it often and to be clear, we’re not just talking about Internet dorks or even third-rate influencers. We’re talking about the President of the United States, members of Congress, and prominent mainstream Democrats.
The dangerous thing about what these people are doing is that ultimately, it may work, and it may lead to terrible consequences. The more the Left encourages violence and the more often they succeed, the more likely it will be that the sentiment becomes mutual. If Donald Trump had been killed, it’s entirely possible that the reaction wouldn’t have been, “Let’s cool everything down here.” Instead, it may have been, “They got one of ours, so let’s get four or five of theirs.”
Liberals have been playing a dangerous game in America for quite a while now and as time goes on, it’s very possible that more and more conservatives are going to decide that “two can play that game.”
That would not be a good thing. No one should root for that. It would be ugly, it would be bloody, and a lot of good people would get hurt. Political violence is like wildfire. It’s dangerous, unpredictable, and you never know how far it will spread.
That being said, liberals need to stop behaving like this and start policing themselves or it’s entirely possible they’re going to end up creating an incredibly dangerous situation for all Americans, including themselves.
Well said. A congressman should enter this article in the congressional record.
Excellent article, clearly highlighting The distorted often malignant characterizations of GOP specifically and conservatives in general disseminated repeatedly by today's Left.
All while they claim to be "defenders of democracy!"!
There is no question about the double standard that exists between frequent, very real "hate Speech"often heard from often emotion-fueled Lefties, MUCH more than the other way around.
Time is long past due to call the lefties(& their media slaves!) to Account for this consistently negative, often hateful and frequently dishonest hostile narrative against their political opponents!
